This will be Des’ last appearance on the Trail.  Here is your opportunity to experience the wonderful hospitality of the Murray family. View Des' superb work in pastels, oils and acrylics which are distinctive to Tasmanian’s east coast.
Don’t forget to enter Des’ quiz – you could win an original framed pencil sketch and there’s also a great activity for the kids.

Sue is a firm favourite with an eclectic talent.  Her most recent commission, illustrations for children’s book, Bluey’s Magical Adventure is a tweens book full of mythical creatures.  You, too, can create your own fictional creature.  Sue has spent her professional life teaching and creating art. Her ‘let’s have a go’ attitude, and sheer creative talent has made her one of the most loved and sought-after artists in Tasmania.

Launceston-born, Ken had a successful career in finance.  At the urging of his family, he commenced writing a children’s adventure story.  Blue was inspired by a visit to the Blue Tier, including the famous Goblin Walk.  Dragons and magicians now haunt his dreams.  Meet the author and get a sneak preview of his work!

John McColl, Alizon Whitestar-McColl
Studio 9

John McColl, Alizon Whitestar-McColl
7391 Tasman Highway
St Marys

'We drive past this house often, but last year’s Open Studio gave us an excuse to stop.  We are so glad we did.  It was both interesting and entertaining as John showed us how he went about producing some amazing sculpture.'  Helen and Darrell Cooper, St Helens.

John, a passionate sculptor, was commissioned to produce the iconic ‘dragon’ which lives outside St Helens History Room.  He tells us he has a traditional approach to sculpture, but we are not so sure. Don’t forget to ask about his moon-bathing solarium!

Alizon admits she is often referred to as a ‘gypsy’ or ‘hippy’.  Certainly her colourful paintings reflect her inner joy and happiness.

ON SALE:  Sculptures in bronze, Tasmanian timbers and ceramics.  Paintings in acrylics, ink and watercolours.  Cards and fridge magnets.

Isabel and Peter Witton
Open Garden 2

Isabel and Peter Witton
251 Lohreys Road
Dublin Town

This garden gives new meaning to the term ‘Secret People, Secret Places’!  A 10km drive on an all-weather, dirt road from St Marys (we recommend a speed limit of 40km to protect wildlife) will find this unstructured garden nestled under Huntsman’s Cap.  Meandering paths lead through shrubberies and cottage-style plantings.  Mature trees create micro climates for liliums, rhododendrons, cerinthe and spiderwort.  You’ll love Peter and Isabel’s creative use of rocks, succulents and pots. A vegetable patch includes espaliered pears and apples, under-planted with lavender and rosemary.  Hydrangeas, perennials and annuals abound.  Sturdy shoes recommended.

BONUS! ABC Gardening Australia presenter, Jane Edmanson, will give a gardening talk 2 pm Saturday June 9.  Don't miss it!

ON SALE:  Fresh produce, potted plants and preserves.

Explore in style! You can hear ABC Gardening Australia presenter Jane Edmanson at this garden and visit four other open studios. For further information and to book our coach tour on Saturday June 9  head to our ticketing page or   BOOK HERE
