‘Boppard’ – a Miniature European Village
Inspired by a cruise down the Rhine River, Ken has built a 1:15 scale European village in his beautiful garden on the edge of the ocean. Construction began with a working stone-based watermill over a garden waterfall, and then…encouraged by Fiona…it just grew into a flourishing village. Over the last two years, the population has grown and so has the infrastructure. This is a unique opportunity to see what passion and perseverance can create. And don’t miss Ken’s recreation of an outback bushman’s cottage to the left of the entrance gate!
Visitors are welcome to stroll through the garden and take in the ocean views.
Fiona has been painting since she was a child. She would haul a little table and chair onto a sunny verandah, set herself up and paint for hours on end. Nowadays she uses oils and acrylics to paint a range of subjects from fantasy to seascapes and from landscapes to still life. She will paint almost anything (and always to music!) as long as she feels an emotional connection to the subject. ‘Painting takes me to another place; it is utterly absorbing and fascinating,’ she says.
