St Helens History Room – 61 Cecilia St, St Helens
Did you know that St Helens History Room has been recognised as a Centre of Excellence by Trip Advisor and listed in Lonely Planet’s Guide to Australia in 2018?
Sometimes the biggest treasure is right under your nose! This latest exhibition, The Changing Face of St Helens, specially curated to coincide with the Arts Festival, features pieces of contemporary artwork as well as historic items from the History Room’s collections which tell the story of a bygone era. Inspired by the rapid pace of change, this exhibition takes us back in time. It is thought-provoking and topical as it explores our heritage and looks to our future.
Enjoy the Heritage Walk around St Helens. Visualise the wonderful avenue in the 1930s (now Cecilia Street) or take a rest on the benches where you can admire the wrought iron balustrades which were a feature of the Golden Fleece bridge in St Helens from 1881. Find out why there is a dragon pointing in the direction of the Information Centre.
